AIG United Guaranty’s Spain and Portugal operations, initiated in 2003, represented the company’s entry into the European Union. Together with AIG Europe, we provide mortgage insurance protection to the Spanish and Portuguese mortgage markets, covering lenders against possible losses from delinquency in mortgage loans up to 100% loan-to-value ratio (LTV).

From the beginning, we have focused on innovation and adaptability to our clients’ current and future needs, reaching a privileged position in the Spanish market, where we serve some of the country’s leading lenders.

Combining a local team of professionals with proven experience in the Spanish mortgage market, with the support provided by an international team of experts in a range of areas (risk, product development, operations, marketing, and capital markets), AIG United Guaranty is able to collaborate with lenders as they develop their own mortgage business. As a result, we and our customers have jointly developed – as we will do in the future – the mortgage insurance programs required to meet mortgage product demand that is constantly evolving. Products include mortgage default coverage for:

• Loans to non-residents
• Debt consolidation loans

Our collaboration with our customers includes extensive follow-up and evaluation of products (both national and international), as well as analysis of our customers’ own residential mortgage portfolios through application of the AIG United Guaranty Stress Testing Model.

Moreover, AIG United Guaranty’s more than 40 years’ experience in mortgage insurance and financial analysis allows us to provide lenders with other solutions for risk mitigation and credit risk management, such as pool insurance coverage for existing mortgage portfolios and assistance with capital markets transactions.
